The TopRockerz will be kicking out two sets of funky breakbeat jams with local bgirls and bboys on Wednesday July 19th, 2006 at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. There'll be cash prizes for the bboys and bgirls to hit the cyphers the hardest. PLUS a special performance by Baysic Project Bboy/Bgirl Dance Company. DJ Jus Jones will also being rockin' the joint.
Our special guest sitting in for the night will be an old friend, Kenny Brooks. He'll be climbing off the bus from Bob Weir's Ratdog tour and blowin' some funky solos to get your earlobes bumpin'. It's been well over a decade since Kenny, Brain, Mirv, Adrian and House played together in their Miles Davis tribute band Borgnine. Everyone's looking forward to hittin' it again!
Grab yer helmet and come on down! Or if that ain't your style, stake out a perch in the balcony and check the moves and grooves.
Note: Brain will not be performing with us on the 19th. He's off playing his membrainophones on tour with... well, you know.
BUTT, we will be powered by the unstoppable rhythmic onslaught of The Austrian Groovemeister Chris Williams, who is sure to pilot the funky beats all up into your sweaty naughty crevices. (His words, not mine.) Although he's primarily known as a drummer, Mr. Williams is also a talented multi-instrumentalist. Below he can be seen performing Frank Zappa's The Black Page on his wonderful bubble machine:
